All four cross country teams place top 3 at MSCCA Championships

Competing in their first ever Mid State Cross Country Association championships Saturday morning in Smyrna, the Ravenwood cross country teams all earned top 3 finishes in the rain. The varsity boys got the morning started with a 3rd place finish behind arch-rivals Brentwood and Brentwood Academy. Matt Rainey, Richard Guiry, and Jack Strevell all finished in the top 15 to earn All-MSCCA honors. Austin Chitwood and Nathan Tidwell also scored for the Raptors. The Lady Raptors just missed an upset of #2 ranked Brentwood, falling just three points shy of the win. Freshman Annika Sleenhof finished second overall, breaking her own school record. Julia Henderson's ninth place finish gave the pair All-MSCCA honors. Olivia Kuban, Addison White, Sabrina Florey, and Hailey Erickson finished within seconds of each other, edging out Brentwood's fifth place runner. The JV Raptors were missing multiple scorers but still managed to snag a third place finish as Everett Jackson, Nassim Zahrir, Daniel Nicastro, Evan Bentley, and Blake Brown scored. The JV Lady Raptors nearly had their second perfect score of the season, finishing with 19 points to win easily despite missing numerous runners. Kendall Pace won and Bailey Fohr, Alyssa Parker, Caitlin McKeown, and Hannah Belcher were third through sixth. All runners will be back in action again at the Region 6-AAA championships October 23 at the Steeplechase in Nashville as they try to advance to the state championships again.
