Coach Craig receives Coach of the Year for 11-AAA

Ravenwood Head Baseball Coach Teddy Craig received the top coaching honor for the 2015 season.   Coach Craig was nominated for leading the Raptors to a district championship with a 21-4 overall record. The raptors go into the district tournament with a number one seed and an automatic bid to the region tournament on May 11.

Craig took over the program four years ago after a very successful coaching career in Florida and Georgia. Craig and his family moved to the middle Tennessee area and landed at Davidson Academy for four years. Craig had multiple offers to take over programs across middle Tennessee during his tenure at Davidson academy, but wanted to wait for the right program to become available. “Ravenwood is the perfect combination of athletics and academic achievement. In baseball, it is important to have smart kids.” said Coach Teddy Craig.

Coach Craig has increased the overall win total each season he has been at Ravenwood and led the team to the state Tournament in his third season at the helm.  He has also developed a program that hosts numerous college and professional scouts throughout the course of the year due to the player development system Craig has established since coming to Ravenwood.

The 2015 season is one that will not be forgotten in Ravenwood baseball history. The Raptors finished with a 21-4 overall record for the regular season and a 16-2 record in the district. The Raptors won the regular season district championship by a full two games over the rest of the district teams. The only other losses of the season came on a spring break tournament in Jacksonville, Florida. Therefore, the team only lost two games in the state of Tennessee all year. When asked about the 2015 season Craig stated, “In order to produce that kind of record you have to play very consistent over a long period of time.”

Coach Craig and the Raptors are looking forward to postseason play. Come out and support your Raptor Baseball.
