Cross County Teams Celebrate Another Great Season at End of Year Banquet
Gathering for the last time, the 2015 Ravenwood cross country teams enjoyed a night of delicious food, some reminiscing, and finally, some good old fashioned roasting. All in all, it was a fitting end to the season.
Runners and their families arrived to see Ravenwood's dining hall looking great, thanks to several team moms who provided tablecloths, balloons, and centerpieces to give the night a festive mood. Everyone enjoyed the meal, catered by Moe's.
Next, Coach Mueller brought each team front and center and recognized every runner, providing some comments and a quick recap of his/her performance. With almost 60 runners present, this took almost an hour and a half, but the time seemed to fly by. The runners and their parents presented Coach with a beautiful fall wreath made of gift cards, for which he was very grateful.
The runners took center stage next, handing out their homemade "paper plate awards". Laughter ensued as they gently poked fun at each other's idiosyncrasies. Finally, everyone gathered to watch the latest cross country video, a mockumentary written, performed, recorded and edited by the team. In case you missed it (or couldn't hear the voices over the laughter), you can see it online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6u0ax7y5sY
As Coach likes to say, being a competitive distance runner is a lifestyle. For those interested, conditioning for track begins the Monday after Thanksgiving. Until then, run when you feel like it, for however long you feel like it, and enjoy it!
