There was plenty of drama on Thursday as the girls competed for the state championship at MTSU. After a slow start in the field events Thursday morning, the performances picked up as Ravenwood captured two state championships (300m hurdles, 4x400m) and set two new school records (400m, 4x400m). In fifth early in the afternoon, the girls kept climbing up the standings, passing Hardin Valley, Brentwood, and Southwind. Here is a rundown of all the performances:
pentathlon – Amber Tanner (1st)
triple jump – Sarah Klippenstein (10th)
high jump – Riley White (8th)
4x800m – Taylor Hill, Caroline Groves, Julia Henderson, Grace Parsons (2nd)
100m hurdles – Amber Tanner (6th)
4x200m – Sarah Klippentein, Addison White, Kennedy McCoy, Madeline Ballard (12th)
1600m – Annika Sleenhof (7th)
4x100m – Sarah Klippenstein, Kennedy McCoy, Riley White, Amber Tanner (5th)
400m – Riley White (2nd/school record 55.78), Addison White (14th)
300m hurdles – Amber Tanner (1st)
800m – Grace Parsons (5th), Julia Henderson (9th)
3200m – Annika Sleenhof (6th), Jamie Blaylock (9th)
4x400m – Addison White, Grace Parsons, Riley White, Amber Tanner (1st/school record 3:55.22)
The girls tallied a total of 63 points, their best total ever.
