On Wednesday 2/4 the Raptor Baseball family held a memorial for the late Denny Denton at Raptor Stadium. Denny, Father of former Raptor Chase Denton, current Raptor Bryce and future Raptors Zane and Miles, was a fixture with Ravenwood baseball. A loving Father, Husband and friend, Denny passed away a year ago this very day. The Raptor family wanted to pay homage and thank the Denton family for their support and donations to the Raptor program, and in particular the Bleacher Project. In lieu of flowers for Denny’s funeral the family had all donations go to the Raptor bleacher fund. This was a big boost to the completion of the project and allowed Ravenwood to have a stadium that our young men could be proud to play in front of. The memorial was attended by the extended Denton family, current Raptor players, their families and other supporters outside of the baseball program. Trevan Townsend, Danny Schunk and Chris Mayfield gave heartfelt words about their relationship with Denny. A plaque of recognition (pictured) was given to the family and the event ended with the release of Sky Lanterns into the night sky. It was a great night dedicated to a great man and a great family. We are blessed to have them in our program.
The Denton family sent out the following statement in appreciation:
We would like to thank the Raptor Nation for the wonderful dedication ceremony. Your thoughts, prayers and support over the past year have meant more than words can express.
