Why do you run?
Well to put it simply, I love running. I love the feeling of finishing a hard workout or a long run or giving it my all in a race and seeing the results I’ve worked so hard for. I love the dedication it takes and it’s really what makes life so enjoyable. I also love the relationships that come from running because it is definitely not easy and it’s incredible to have other people who love it just as much. It’s amazing to do the thing I love most with the people I love most. It’s so freeing and amazing and I hope I can do it forever. Staying in shape is also nice, too haha.
When/how did you start running?
I started running when I was in the second grade. I knew my mom loved to run and that made me want to. I started out doing the Country Music Kids' Marathon and did it all throughout elementary school, until I joined track in middle school.
What is your favorite workout?
My favorite workout is probably either Raintree hills or anything we do on the track.
What advice would you offer a new runner?
Always give everything you’ve got! Nobody joins cross country without having tons of dedication and motivation because it is not an easy sport. There is something amazing about working hard all the time and watching it pay off in the end. It feels so good to see how much you’ve accomplished and always be striving towards your own goals.
What will you miss the most about running cross country at Ravenwood?
Definitely my teammates, I can’t believe it’s already almost over. The cross country team contains by far my favorite people in the world. They are the most dedicated and hardworking people I have ever met. They have shaped me into who I am today and continue to inspire me. I have made some of the best friends and created the most amazing relationships that I believe will last for life. I have learned to love every minute with all the wonderful people because it flies by!
What is on your iPod?
I have a lot of alternative music. I listen to super different and original artists. I love music, and some of my favorites are Milo Greene, Hey Marseilles, Glass Animals, and Lord Huron.
What do you like to do besides run?
I love reading and hanging out with my friends. When I’m not at school, or practice of course, that’s what you’ll find me doing.
What do you plan to study in college?
I honestly have no idea! I’m still trying to figure everything out, although hopefully I can figure out soon. I know I would like to study something with exercise science, but that’s about as far as I’ve gotten.
