Caroline Hopfensperger - #14
What position do you play for the Raptors?
How long have you been playing soccer?
I have been playing soccer since I was 5 years old.
What is your favorite position?
My favorite position is forward because I love making runs and scoring.
What were/are your goals for this season?
My goal for this team is to have fun and hopefully finish the season with a state championship.
What regular season game are you most looking forward to? Why?
I look forward to the Brentwood game the most because everyone gets hype and usually a lot of people come out and support.
Tell me about the most exciting sports experience you've had? An exciting game you participated in, watched, etc.
I don't know if this is considered 'exciting' but sophomore year I broke my leg in the first minute of the first game of the season.
What are your plans after high school?
My plans include going to college.
If your plans include college, have you decided on where you are going or at least narrowed it down?
I have not decided on the college I will attend yet. I'm thinking of majoring in business. I also would like to go to college somewhere warm.
Do you plan on playing soccer beyond high school? Are you pursuing other interests (music, art, business, medicine, etc)?
I am not planning on playing soccer in college, but I would like to continue playing for fun. Maybe I will join an intramural soccer team in college.
Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?
My favorite professional athlete is Alex Morgan because she is a team player and every time I watch her play, I learn something new about the game. Recently, I have also looked up to Simone Biles because of her dedication, work ethic, and confidence.
Who's your favorite teacher? Why is he/she your favorite?
Mrs. Payne and Mrs. Wilkinson. I love both of these teachers because they make an effort to know all of their students and they are both really easy to talk to.
Do you have any mentors or anyone in your life you really look up to? Why?
I definitely look up to my parents. They provide everything for my siblings and me for which I will be forever grateful.
Tell us about your accomplishments you are most proud of?
My proudest accomplishment regarding soccer is my come back from breaking my leg. It took a great deal of time and hard work to recover, but I'm proud to say that I'm back and better than ever. :) I'm also really proud of being able to juggle so many school and community activities while maintaining a high GPA.
Tell us about your parents/family? What they mean to you? What they do for a living? Anything else you want to share...
My dad is the hardest worker I know. He is a self made man. He started working at a young age, paid for his own college education, and became a successful business man. I also look up to my dad because he is an outstanding basketball player. He played college ball and still plays today. His team has won the Tennessee Senior Olympics many times and has also won a National Championship. My mom is the most determined person I know. She won't let anything or anyone stand in her way to achieve what she sets out to do. My mom means so much to me and the rest of my family. I honestly don't know how my family would function if she wasn't around. My mom works as a substitute teacher predominantly at Ravenwood. Many high school students would hate it if their mom was at school with them everyday, but I love it. She's always there if I need anything during the school day. I often joke around with her and tell her she knows more students and teachers at RHS than I do. My mom is like one of my best friends and I'm very grateful for her.:) I'm the youngest of four siblings. My oldest sibling, Kathryn, just graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Elementary Education. My other big sis, Madelyn, is a senior at the University of Southern California. Lastly, my big brother, Daniel, is a sophomore at Purdue University.
What are your favorite things about Brentwood? Places to eat, things to do, etc? (3 favorite places)
My favorite places in Brentwood right now are Smith and Crockett Park. I like going to the parks with my friends to work out, socialize and have fun. I enjoy eating anywhere in Brentwood as long as it involves friends or family.
What kinds of activities do you do outside of Ravenwood Soccer? Church groups, mission trips, music, other sports, Etc.
Lifeteen Leadership Team (Holy Family Church), RHS Spring Musicals, Student Body Treasurer (student council), RHS Freshman Mentor Leader, Student Section Leader, Spanish/English/Social Studies/Science Honors Societies, National Honor Society, Thespian Society, RHS Choir, Youth Leadership Franklin, Youth Leadership Brentwood, and a mission trip to Honduras,
What advice would you give to other girls who aspire to play varsity soccer at Ravenwood?
I'm a firm believer that if you really want something bad enough, hard work can get you there.
When life gets challenging, what do you do to deal with the worries and stresses of life?
If I'm stressed out or need to clear my head, I like going on long runs. If I need someone to talk to, I go to my family and/or friends.
If you see Caroline, please let her know how much you appreciate her and her dedication to Ravenwood girls soccer.
