For the first time all season, the varsity boys ran first on Saturday at the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational in Louisville. They took advantage of the early start time, cloudy sky, and nice breeze as six Raptors ran season bests, pacing the team to a sixth place finish out of 30 teams. Sophomore Kevin Forst was first across the line, followed by Jack Dang, Everett Jackson, Carter Myers, Nolan McGinnity, Nikhil Arun, and Blake Brown,
Eleven of the fourteen JV guys turned in season bests as well, led by Nassim Zahrir, David Story, Kevin McGinnity, Robby Hill, Christopher Caruso, Brendan Goodbred, and Daniel Nicastro. The boys finished 19th out of 35 teams in the open race.
Coach Mueller was excited about what he saw on Saturday morning. "The boys have had laser focus on practice lately, turning in strong workout after strong workout. They've been running in packs, pushing each other to run harder, and it paid off today with 17 season bests. I bet we'll have even more in two weeks when we go to Jesse Owens."
The Jesse Owens Cross Country Classic is October 1 in Oakville, Alabama.
