Ravenwood joined the Mid State Cross Country Association in 2014 and the Lady Raptors finished 2nd and 3rd in the previous two MSCCA championship meets. This year they were able to finally get over the hump and win the championship, beating a very strong Brentwood Academy squad to take home the title. Annika Sleenhof led the way with her second victory of the year, beating runner up Meredith Helton of BA by 25 seconds. Jamie Blaylock (5th) and Ella Kuban (10th) joined her in the top ten while Alex Rosen (12th) and Maeve Hanley (19th) finished in the top twenty. Olivia Derr and Elise Strevell ran 6th and 7th for Ravenwood. Their team score of 47 was 21 points better than BA. "Despite the heat and the hills I was proud of how good we looked over the second half of the race," noted Coach Mueller. "That bodes well for us at region and state since the Steeplechase also has its fair share of hills."
The JV girls weren't able to topple BA, but their team score of 37 was very impressive. Addison White led the way again, finishing 2nd. Haley Berger (5th), Carson Everman (7th), and Taylor Hill (8th) were all top ten, with Elena Vidal (15th) and Ella Rhoades (16th) finishing top twenty and Mekenna Raymer locking up 7th for Ravenwood.
The Lady Raptors will look for their third straight win on October 27th when they toe the line at the Region 6-AAA championship. A top three finish guarantees their 14th straight trip to state.
