Ravenwood volleyball standout Ashley Klee and Brentwood golfer Eli Charron have been named as the John Maher Builders Scholar-Athletes of the Month for September.
An outside hitter on a Ravenwood team that is fighting for yet another state tournament berth, Ashley Klee appears to be the epitome of leadership by example, based on the words of her head coach, Wendy Munzel.
“Ashley strives to excel both on and off the court,” said Munzel. “She dedicates anywhere between 2-4 hours a day to volleyball practices and matches during the week while maintaining a 4.492 grade point average in the classroom.”
The senior, who is considering both Duke and Clemson for college, is also quick to share her time as a volunteer with seniors at a local assisted living center, with the local animal shelter and the Nashville Zoo. Klee is also active with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the National Honor Society.
“Ashley always has a smile on her face and determination on her mind; she works very hard to accomplish her goals,” Munzel said. “Volleyball season starts during the summer vacation and therefore Ash has been working out and competing since well before school was in session.
"She has accomplished her goal by making varsity this season and earning a starting position on the court. She comes from a fantastic family who supports and loves her.”
