On a night of win-or-go-home action at Brentwood in the District 11-AAA tournament, Ravenwood, Franklin and Centennial survived Wednesday night to battle the Lady Bruins for the final two slots in next week’s regional tournament.
Second-seed Ravenwood made quick work of seventh-seed Dickson County, 25-20, 25-17, 26-24 in the first quarterfinal. Franklin followed with 25-19, 25-14, 25-22 sweep of Independence in the second.
The victories set up a season-ending showdown for one of the two winners Thursday at 6 p.m. when they meet with a spot in the district tournament finals and a region berth on the line. The Lady Raptors have beaten the Lady Rebels twice this season, including a come-from-behind match last week.
The winner of that semifinal will play the winner of the Centennial-Brentwood contest set for 4:30 p.m. Brentwood got an automatic spot in the semis by winning the regular season title, while the Lady Cougars struggled to eliminate a game Summit squad 25-23, 26-24, 25-22 in Wednesday night’s quarterfinal nightcap.
The championship game is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
The top two teams in the district tournament will advance to next week’s Region 6-AAA tournament in Nashville.
