Winter weather can be unpredictable, but that hasn't stopped a small but dedicated group of Lady Rators from training for the upcoming track & field season. Competing at the Vanderbilt High School Indoor Invitational on Saturday gave the girls the opportunity to guage their fitness against some of the best track athletes from across the country. Early returns were good as ten of Ravenwood's best athletes qualified for the Tennessee State High School Indoor Championships.
Senior Riley White led the way, qualifying in the 200m, 400m, and anchoring the 4x400m relay team. Joining her on the relay were Taylor Hill, Kiara Carter, and Grace Parsons. Grace also qualified in the 800m. Jamie Blaylock and Alex Rosen both ran PRs in the two mile, qualifying for state, and fellow distance standouts Olivia Hetherington, Maeve Hanley, Elise Strevell, and Ella Kuban teamed up to qualify in the distance medley relay with a third place finish, the highest of any Ravenwood athlete or relay.
The state championship meet will be Sunday, February 19th, at Vanderbilt.
