With Ravenwood's girls track & field team tenuously holding on to a #1 state ranking, the boys have been flying under the radar. Several Raptors qualified for the prestigious Great 8 Invitational, an all star meet that brings the eight best athletes in each event from all over middle Tennessee together to compete.
Freshman Gabriel Sleenhof continued his dramatic ascent in the shot put, throwing a new PR of 47'11" to finish 5th.
Bad handoffs plagued the 4x100m, but Elijah Dryer found redemption in the 100m dash, placing 5th in 10.95.
Tim Cody finished strong with a 51.74 to place 6th in the 400m.
Jack Dang got out fast in the 800m, holding on to finish 6th in 2:00.03.
Matthew Rigsby ran a PR of 9:50.11, fending off former teammate Diego Zuazua for 7th in the 3200m.
In the final event of the night, the fresh 4x400m team of Jacob Castillo, Elijah Dryer, Jack Dang, and Tim Cody clocked Ravenwood's fastest time since 2015, 3:25.60, good enough for third. This group has a strong chance to qualify for the state championship.
Ravenwood will run at the Charlie Harper Relays Friday night then begin the state meet qualifying process Monday at sub-sectionals.
