After Ravenwood's boys cross country team won the region championship, some folks weren't sure how to react. According to milesplit they weren't even a top 20 team, but Coach Mueller and the seven runners who toed the starting line Saturday morning at state knew better. With Brentwood's Reign of Terror officially over, the boys large division was wide open this season. After scouring the region results Coach Mueller isolated nine teams he felt could potentially finish in the top three, and the boys set out to beat as many of them as possible.
Ultimately, the race played out like Coach suggested, with a mere five points separateing third place Oakland from eighth place Oak Ridge. The Raptors ended up seventh, their best finish since 2014. For the fourth straight meet, Matthew Rigsby finished first for Ravenwood, followed by Kevin Frost, Jack Dang, Jack Dellinger, Nolan McGinnity, Carter Myers, and Trevon Miller. With four of their top five returning, the boys hope to build on the success they had in 2017.
